Notes for journal contributors

General statement

 «Metaxy Journal», is a annual online, Gold Open Access, peer-reviewed journal.

«Metaxy Journal» is autonomous and independent from institutional affiliations, that authors are not paid for their contributions. In each issue of «Metaxy Journal» will disclose any public and / or private funders.

The Editor-in-Chief name, the Editorial Board and the Scientific Committee members names, are published in every single issue.

«Metaxy Journal» is committed to upholding ethical behavior standards during every stage of the publication process. In order to do so, we abide by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)’s Best Practice Guidelines: https://publicationethics.org/.

Submissions criteria

«Metaxy Journal» does not solicit contributions, and not consider proposals for articles or unfinished drafts.

Type of Articles: Only research articles and book reviews are published. Articles should be original and innovative, offering new research material and/or new perspectives. Besides single contributions, «Metaxy Journal» also publishes collections of articles on particular research topics (Special Issues), respecting the adopted Peer Review policy.

Languages: Articles are published in one of the six languages: French, Deutsch, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Length: Articles of up to 50.000 characters including spaces (the word-count include footnotes and documentary appendixes) and a maximum of 15 illustrations.

Costs: «Metaxy Journal» does not charge article processing or submission fees for individual articles. Reproduction or permission fees for images, archival fees or other charges by third parties are to be paid by the authors.

Peer Review policy: The author’s proposal is evaluated by two reviewers through a single-blind peer-review process. Peer reviewers are selected by the Editor-in-Chief with the advice of the Editorial board. At least one of the two reviewers be external to the Scientific Committee of «Metaxy Journal». The peer review process usually takes eight weeks.

License: Unless otherwise arranged with the author, articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons License CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0.

Copyright: The copiright of the published text will remain the property of the author.

 

Submissions rule

Important notice:

  • Submissions that do not comply with these rules will not be sent to reviewers.
  • We kindly ask that you do not submit your article elsewhere during the reviewing process.

Submissions should include:

  • Name, e-mail, city and institutional affiliation (if applicable).
  • Title in English (when the article is written in a different language).
  • Abstract in English (c. 400-900 characters, including spaces).
  • List of 3-5 keywords for free subject indexing.
  • The text file should now be sent in two formats: PDF and Word Processing File (*.doc/*.docx/*.rtf). The text and footnotes should be presented in double line-spacing. Each page should be numbered and should bear a key word of the title.
  • Authors are kindly asked to prepare their manuscripts for blind reviewing: information which identifies the author(s) should be omitted from these files, in particular, any first-person references to their own publications should be removed.
  • Illustrations should be provided in a separate PDF file: this file should contain all the illustrations, each one accompanied by its numbered caption, corresponding with a Fig. number within the text.
  • It is the author’s responsibility to provide suitable illustrations for publication (see below), to obtain permission to reproduce them and, if necessary, to pay any copyright fees. When, exceptionally, an image has been scanned from a published edition, it remains the contributor’s responsibility to negotiate reproduction permission with the owner of the copyright for that image.
  • Upon receipt of accepted manuscripts at «Metaxy Journal» authors will be invited to sign an editorial agreement.
  • In the case of multi-hand written contributions, the author who sends the text is required to declare that he has correctly indicated the names of all the other co-authors, that they have obtained their approval of the final version of the article and their consent to publication in «Metaxy Journal».

 

If your article is accepted for publication, please also provide:

  • Once an article has been accepted for publication, it must be checked carefully to ensure it is consistent with the «Metaxy Journal» style conventions. You should treat your manuscript as if it was a final proof in order to eliminate errors and inconsistencies as far as possible. This will save time at the proof stage.
  • All texts must be organized in a unique Word Processing File (*.doc/*.docx/*.rtf), respecting this sequence of texts: a) author name; b) title and possible title in English; c) abstract in English; d) keywords; e) text including the intended illustrations and footnotes; f) bibliography; g) captions with copyright information. Writing the bibliography, citing the book chapters, journal articles or reviews, conference papers, catalogue or dictionary entries, remember to correctly quote the initial and final pages.
  • The captions for all illustrations should include the provenance of the original object, together with elements specified in letters of pe Some copyright holders may reduce or waive their usual fee in this circumstance; but it may be necessary to request specifically that they will do so. Note too that archives or museums which supply photographs will normally ask for a printed offprint when the article is published.
  • Separate image files, numbered according to the intended sequence of illustrations in the text, in the .tiff format 72 dpi and a maximum length of 1600 pixels for landscape format resp. a maximum heigth of 1300 pixels for portrait format.
  • Proofs are normally expected to be returned with corrections and answers to any queries from the copy editor within one week.

Post-publication considerations

Gratis copies: Authors are entitled to a offprint copy of their article in PDF format, and a free copy of the issue in which their article is published, if it is printed.
